Your details, discreetly kept
What we keep when you sign up on this site, why, for how long, and what you can ask us to do with it. Last updated 2 October 2026.
- We keep your name, email, the interests you tick and when you signed up.
- We use them only to contact you about Wattsworth.
- No cookies, no tracking, no advertising, and nothing sold or shared.
- Deleted after a year, or sooner whenever you ask.
Who we are
Wattsworth is a pilot project run by Mark George in the United Kingdom. Mark is responsible for your details (the “data controller”).
For anything about your data, email hello@wattsworth.co.uk.
What we keep when you sign up
- Your name and email address.
- The interests you tick: following along, testing on your battery, building or backing it, or chatting more.
- The date and time you signed up.
That's all. We don't store your IP address or browser details with your sign-up.
Why we keep it
To send you a short thank-you when you sign up, then news about Wattsworth, and to get in touch about the things you ticked, such as testing it on your own battery.
We rely on your consent (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), which you give by signing up. You can withdraw it at any time by emailing us, and we'll delete your details.
Visiting the site
- No cookies and no analytics or tracking of any kind.
- No third parties. Fonts and everything else on the page come from our own server, so your browser doesn't contact anyone else.
- Spam protection. To stop the form being flooded, your IP address is held in the server's memory for up to an hour to limit repeated sign-ups. It isn't written down anywhere.
- Error logs. If something goes wrong, the server may log technical details of the failed request, which can include an IP address. We use these only to fix problems, and they're overwritten automatically as new ones are written.
Who can see it, and where it's kept
Only Mark. We never sell your details, share them, or use them for advertising.
They're stored in a database on our server in the UK. The server is run by our hosting provider, Hostinger, who look after it on our behalf and may keep routine backups of the whole server.
Emails to and from hello@wattsworth.co.uk go through Hostinger's email service, so copies of the emails we exchange are kept in that mailbox. If we start using a different service to send updates, we'll update this notice before we do.
How long we keep it
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what we hold about you and give you a copy;
- correct anything that's wrong;
- delete your details;
- stop contacting you.
Email hello@wattsworth.co.uk and we'll reply within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your details, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113. We'd appreciate the chance to put it right first.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we use your details, we'll update this page and the date at the top. For anything significant, we'll email you before it takes effect.
